Hunt on for star of Highlander remake
At long last it seems likely the 1986 film Highlander will get a remake, and so all eyes must turn to the likely candidates to play Conor MacLeod
The long-awaited remake of the 1986 film Highlander has taken a step towards reality. Summit Entertainment have announced that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will take on directorial duties.
They also say the film – in the hands of the Fast and the Furious director – will begin filming in spring 2012.
Twilight talent Melissa Rosenberg is reportedly working on the script for the fantasy action film.
The original Highlander starred Christopher Lambert as the immortal hero who was questing for the Prize. His mentor Juan Sanchez was played by Sean Connery.
Rumours have persisted about the likely candidate to pick up the broadsword with Kevin McKidd the frontrunner.
However, it seems it’s still anyone’s part but possible MacLeods must include Ewan McGregor and James McAvoy. It’s hard to consider a Scottish action hero without thinking about Gerard Butler or even David Tennant.
Perhaps the ideal candidate may come from outside the world of cinema, how about David Coulthard or even Alex Salmond?
THERE CAN BE MORE THAN ONE
When we last spoke to Kevin he advised us that he had not been approached about this role ....
