Tough Mudder "Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet." http://toughmudder.com Tough Mudder is not your average run in the mud or endurance course. It's MUCH TOUGHER. Forget finishing times. This is not a race. Participants merely hope they CAN finish! (On average only 78% do.) Completing the course is a badge of honor. Tough Mudder is an obstacle course, approximately 10-12 miles long, that has been designed by British Special Forces. It challenges participants and their level of physical and mental stamina while also promoting comradeship among those involved. Participants complete the course without being timed. It is more about strong will and dedication - and the basic concept of finishing what you started. The BONUS - Tough Mudder participants raise money for charity. That's right. They challenge themselves AND they challenge family and friends to support them. To date, Tough Mudder has raised over $1 million dollars for charity. The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), which provides monetary help for injured American servicewomen and servicemen is the Tough Mudder charity of choice, but participants are welcome to raise money for other charities. Tough Mudder Philosophy Tough Mudder requires all athletes to recite the Tough Mudder Pledge, as well as understand the philosophy of it. Whether you are participating as an individual or as part of a group, team work is a key ingredient to completing the course. In fact, for some obstacles you'll need it – they are simply too much for one person to tackle. Tough Mudders are team players. They make sure no man is left behind. History of Tough Mudder Tough Mudder was founded by Englishmen Will Dean and Guy Livingstone. While at Harvard Business School, Dean came up with the idea and brought on Livingstone to act as Chief Operating Officer. In May 2010, the first Tough Mudder event was launched via Facebook with limited budget. Since the first event held at Bear Creek Resort in Allentown, PA, the number and interest of Tough Mudder events has increased substantially. There are events that test various limits of physical fitness: Iron Man, Warrior Dash, Muddy Buddy, or your big city marathon. But how many test stamina and mental toughness ALL IN ONE DAY - ALL IN ONE PLACE? How many promise that you won't get bored our of your mind while testing your all-around mettle? Only Tough Mudder.
