Leanne was able to get a quick response back from Kevin on a few more updates...
Outlander any news on that project?
NO NEWS - AM LOOKING INTO WHO OWNS THE PROJECT AND IF THERE IS ANY ACTIVITY ON IT
Highlander: the rumour has resurfaced, via a BBC article, that you are attached. Last time you said you had no idea where the rumour came from I'm just checking if this has changed?
NO CHANGE - BUT WOULD CONSIDER IT ..
Rome 2011 movie IMDbpro has only 3 cast members (not you) listed so far. Do you have any update with regards this project and your attachment?
BEING WRITTEN BY BRUNO - LUCIUS V WILL BE PART OF IT - HOPE TO SHOOT NEXT SUMMER --

Kevin sent more responses to our fan forum questions via iPhone:
Do you feel that working on Grey's has had an impact on your life yet, in a professional sense - for example, are you finding that more scripts are landing in your lap?
things are changing but it is still a dog fight to get parts that are interesting as there are not many out there . I have been in the biz long enough to know that one minute u r up next down -- so feel thankful for the opportunities I am getting right now..
What have you learned the most as an actor from working with Sandra Oh?
She is very thorough in her prep -- to see that from an actor who has been in the same role for 5 seasons is impressive . But she is also willing and open to give in to the moment and the possibility of something new happening - just a great committed actor with a big talent
Are you reading anything at the moment or have you read anything good lately that you would recommend to others?
I was reading michael palins diaries from the python years-- it is a tome so I will pick it up again when I get back to la - was feeling homesick for the Uk so it hit the sweet spot!
Whats your favorite Episode from Greys Anatomy season 5 and which character from all your productions is your favorite?
The premier ep for me was great because it was all so new and fun and exciting - wearing army gear didn't hurt either! It was a great intro for a character I think and I knew it at that time so enjoyed it - sometimes it's only in hindsight you realise how Lucky u r---- favourite character -- maybe my character in Nicholas nickleby . He was fun happy and funny - uncomplicated -- made a change from the more complex dark stuff I usually take on..
What is your hair look/style in Bunraku? Are you blond?
blond - slicked back but wear a hat thru most if the movie ..
Congrats on the role in Lightning Thief. I heard filming will be taking place in Vancouver. My question is whether this will be his first time in Vancouver? Canada?
my first time yes - heard great things and am looking forward to my time there
What was it like for Kevin and for Sandra Oh to film that choking scene and do take after take? I know he started to answer this question on the View but then he was frustratingly cut off by questions about Izzie.
it was hard because u have to reach into that place to do violence-- he was dreaming but it was a tiring day because some of that stuff rubs off sometimes
I've heard/read reports that the Grey's Anatomy shower scene took hours and hours to do. I want to know more about this scene did it take that long was he only wearing one suit and wet all the time ect...
Did take a long time - they really covered it -- i was in the same suit and they had a warm tent with heaters for me to huddle in between set ups - it was a warm night so it was fine but I was a bit prune like by the end!
I'd be interested to know how easily Kevin can slip between American and Scottish accents. I mean, we've seen him do it on Ellen and Jimmy Kimmel etc but I'd like to know whether in between takes on set he ever sticks with the American accent because he's in character
No I don't stay in the accent - it would be too much for me and I don't feel I need that - filming days are long enough IMO without that added effort -I like turning it on and off
Since Rome is one of my favorite shows I'd like to ask him what his favorite memory or scene is from show. There must be so many, but I know I loved a lot of the Pullo/Lucius interaction
The horse riding stuff and out in the Italian country fighting etc was great fun-- also some of the big street sequences were pretty special - especially night scenes - u really got a sense of how it was back then
does he have any say in some of the references/lines he gets to make, like to whisky or scotch on the Grey's set--like referring to Christina as a fine malt scotch or whatnot
I have opinions which all the writers are interested in but I am an actor not a writer yet .. I leave it to them usually ..
Are you one of those actors who needs time to prepare before a crying scene, or are you one of those who can do it right on camera? Before the love scene of GA's , I spotted that not only that your eyes are watery, but they are also red and swollen. You also have tears during the vent scene and the scene after the choking. Seems like you have cried for a long time. Is it true that you have to stay in a crying mode through out the shoot
Yes you do or i do -- you have to stay in that space -- thankfully those scenes are handles really well and they let you focus for that moment of ' delivery' and try not to make you repeat it too many times -
Why the choice of Red hair and a beard for Dr Owen Hunt's character
i dont know - shonda saw that look i guess - she wanted me to be darker than my normal blonde - i dont mind - its nice to change things up a little every now and then !

A FEW QUICK NOTES FROM KEVIN WHILE ON THE "PERCY JACKSON" SET IN CANADA:
1. "Percy Jackson" ~ filming starting next month, Vancouver. Character Poseidon , possible franchise of 5 movies. The Internet articles seem pretty official but just in case, are you definitely attached?
YES STARTED FILMING TODAY IN VANCOUVER...SETS ARE AMAZING!
Would you be able to provide us with a bit of insight into your role/character, - if you can that would be great.
POSEIDON - GOD OF THE SEA - ESTRANGED FATHER TO PERCY
2. "Bunraku" ~ rumoured release of Aug/Sep 2009
NOT SURE BUT I THINK IT WILL BE CLOSER TO 2010
~ Killer #2, spaghetti western, martial arts. Not sure if you can provide any updates with regards to this movie (as there is little to no information on the internet).
WE MAY BE DOING EXTRA SHOOTING THIS SUMMER..THE POST PROD ON THIS IS HUGE AS MOST SHOTS HAVE A CG ELEMENT
3. "Catwalk" ~ Articles on the Internet indicate that this movie is supposed to start filming 11 May ~ are you still attached or did this one clash with Greys?
[STILL] CLASHES AT THE MO[MENT]...
4. "Faith" ~ is this still in the cards?
STILL ATTACHED DONT KNOW WHERE THEY ARE WITH FINANCE
5. Fans have asked if you are planning to do any stage productions in the near future?
WOULD LOVE TO BUT TIME IS LIMITED RIGHT NOW - WOULD LOVE TO DO A FULL SEASON AT THE RSC - OR DO A BIG MUSICAL - AN ANTIDOTE TO ALL THE FILMING OVER RECENT YEARS
6. In my search for information about your filmography, I came across a TV show called White Clouds....it's not listed on IMDB but the article was published by the BBC 28 August, 2002....I'm just wondering if this project is missing from your Filmography.
IT IS MISSING IT WAS DENNIS POTTERS LAST SCREENPLAY BEFORE HE DIED-- WAS PRODUCED VERY QUICKLY AND CHEAPLY FOR BBC4-- MORE OF A REHEARSED READING THAT WAS TAPED

We posted that Kevin would appear on the Craig Ferguson show Monday night. Kevin sent a brief note for the fans:
I had to cancel the late late show with Craig Ferguson - because I was shooting late and could not be released --
there has been speculation as to why and I thought it was best to clear it up..

To start off the New Year right, we let fans take 1 week to compile as many questions regarding "Grey's Anatomy" as they could think of for an exclusive Kevin McKidd Online interview; one of those perks to being a regular member on the boards. We took 10 of these questions and presented them to Kevin over the weekend. He quickly got to work for us--here's what he had to say (thanks again, Kevin, and thanks to our board members for their great questions!):
Kevin, you've done alot of research on PTSD to enhance your portrayal of Owen Hunt. My question is a two-parter. First, do you think Owen will have to 'hit bottom' emotionally, physically and psychologically before he can actively move forward with any sort of personal interactions? Second, if yes, then how do you feel about playing out such a cathartic moment onscreen? Should the viewer see this breakdown or would such a display sensationalize the issue too much? The alternative being references to Owen's breakdown via dialogue and character interactions.
Where do you go in your mind or how do you accomplish tough angst performances like this?
Kevin : I feel great about the role and the way he is being conceived - i think he will get to some pretty dark places -- it is hard to know if there really is a ' moving on' from PTS but he is definitely trying to piece a life back together - sometimes his logic is messed up over things as we will discover ... i don't know how I accomplish it .. I guess I just respond to the material laid in front of me and trust that the research I have done comes through in some way...
Are you signed on as a regular for multiple seasons or just until the end of season 5 at this stage?
Kevin : You never can tell in this business but at the moment I am signed for a few seasons - but they - as always - have the option to stop that at any time.
If you could write for the character what would you like to see happen to him?
Kevin : I dont know -I guess I want him to find some peace - some sense of order in his life again - that is what he wants deep down - I hope he and Cristina can get there in the end - they seem pretty right for each other
I love the poignant minimalism of the Cristina and Owen scenes and I consider Owen to be more of a modern version of Vorenus than Heathcliff. If Owen could go back in time like Dan Vasser to the Roman period, what advice do you think Lucius Vorenus would give him about life?
Kevin : Haha - Vorenus might tell him to get over himself - the interesting link between Owen and Vorenus is they show similar signs of estrangement on returning from combat - its just in ancient Rome - psychotherapy had not been invented yet ..
Do you have any idea why you end up in such serious, dour roles when in real life you seem to be a fairly light hearted person? Other than the fact that you're a great actor?
Kevin : Thanks for the compliment - at the moment I have been playing those kind of roles - the reason why? I don't know - it comes down to your ' look' in this business - maybe i look dour and serious in repose...?
How prescriptive is the direction for your character (ie, how much of what we see onscreen in terms of Owen's emotions and the way his story is portrayed comes from Kevin and how much comes from Shonda or directors? Are you left to your own devices at times or is it more relegated to "Okay, now you have to look at this person in this way...."?
Kevin : It depends-- some scenes are medical and technical and very focused on accuracy of procedure etc -- other scenes -- usually the more intimate scenes - are up to you-- the dialogue is there but there is a lot of trust given to the actors to feel out what is best in that moment - or certainly that has been my experience so far -- as far as creative dialogue about character arcs and emotional through lines - the whole writing staff are amazingly open to suggestions and gut feelings - which in my experience is rare -- so I feel very lucky to be playing this part and to be able to have some say in its conception ..
Can you tell us one funny story about life on the "Grey's" set?
Kevin : The crew are great. We laugh all the time - the crew are maybe the coolest bunch I have ever worked with and are very quick to laugh or play pranks -- last week we did a scene where Cristina and Owen are making eyes at each other as they walk slowly towards each other in a crowded corridor -- we do Sandra's coverage then we turn round on me -- as soon as they say action and i start to attempt my best sultry looks -- the sound guys crank out some Barry White full blast on the speakers -- the whole place cracked up ..
Since Grey's is about a hospital, there are tons of guest actors on the show. What are some of the challenges of working with so many guest actors, is it more difficult to portray connections, or is there less pressure, etc?
Kevin : I love working with guest actors -- they always bring something new and fresh to the show - I always have enjoyed that about TV - you get to spar with many able bodied actors over the season
Having just watched "Life during wartime". Do you agree with animal experimentation for research like we saw in the pig episode? And did you feel comfortable having to act out that scene?
Kevin : It felt weird doing that scene - those plastic pigs were very realistic ..In an ideal world I believe we should not experiment on animals .
Working as a regular in a television series, as opposed to starring in a movie, you don't have the benefit of knowing precisely what journey your character will take and ultimately how it will conclude. Grey's Anatomy, especially, is known for keeping its individual storyline under wraps from the cast for as long as possible. How do you deal with that as an actor and has that had any impact on your vision of the character of Owen Hunt or did you have a good enough sense of who he was from the outset that nothing has really taken you by surprise?
Kevin : This is always a challenge on TV but the more I do it the more I see it as a good thing -- in a movie you can get very hung up on the three act structure and arc for your character which is correct..
On TV however you get the chance - i think - to just be in a moment and respond in a quite raw way to material you are given to work with - because you and the character do not know what is going to happen next - which is the way life is and I feel sure depicting a character at its best should be surprising and revelatory - not pre determined and closed ended -

Kevin provided us an informal update regarding some of his future projects. He also provided the answer to our top 2 fan questions.
Dylan - While IMDB continues to change the status of this film, Kevin informed us that the project is primarily ON HOLD for the time being.
Parasomnia - The media announced Kevin's role in this film back in May; however, "Grey's Anatomy" filming has created a schedule clash.
Catwalk - Kevin says this project is still a possibility but may also clash with "Grey's Anatomy" shoots.
Dog Soldiers II: Fresh Meat - Kevin advised us that this is definitely not going to happen.
As for the two most popular fan questions, Kevin says:
(1) he does not have a family tartan and
(2) the scar on the bridge of his nose is the result of falling through a glass door when he was very young.
Thanks, Kevin, for the recent update and thanks to the fans for your interest and inquiries!

Hi how are you all?
Am in Bucharest prepping for a great movie called "Bunraku" with Josh Hartnett, Woody Harrelson and it looks like Demi Moore among others. It is very experimental and exciting..the entire movie is shot on green screen and is a spaghetti western martial arts film--if such a genre exists...
take care
