Elgin is more of a small city than a town - wikipedia said it had about 20,000 residents but it looked bigger. It is both charming and a little gritty and real - clearly a place that people actually live and work although with the Cathedral, a famous wool/cashmere merchant (Johnstons of Elgin) and the best whisky shop in Scotland (Gordon & MacPhail - unfortunately closed because we were there on a Sunday), it clearly gets some tourist traffic as well.
It was striking to be there and to think how far Kevin has traveled in this life - - not just in miles!
Finally, since we've been talking a lot about the Speyside Sessions and Kevin's album, I thought you might like to see some pictures of the famous river itself, and of the beautiful Moray countryside in which the album was recorded. These pictures were all taken around Aberlour and Grantown-on-Spey, about 15 - 20 miles south of Elgin
many thanks to Hopew for sharing her trip to the Speyside and Moray region
