Many of the characters had just minimal scenes around that central story this week and we only saw Owen briefly as he accosted Jackson Avery about Maggie's resignation, which she'd announced to the board via email. Owen's frustration at potentially losing another cardio doctor was evident as he referenced how he and Cristina Yang had worked to hire Maggie when the previous cardio chief had recently resigned. While Owen's story wasn't much advanced by this scene, it was heartening to be reminded of his connection to Cristina even so.
Elsewhere in the hospital: Meredith and Derek Shepherd continued to struggle with the personal and professional choices they've made; Alex Karev returned to Grey Sloan Memorial as a pediatric surgeon; Arizona Robbins tried to run her own Fellowship while getting Alex to run her service for her as a peds Fellow; Amelia Shepherd tried to convince Maggie to stay and tried to assert her authority as Neuro Chief at the same time; Miranda Bailey stepped into her new seat on the board claiming she'd turn the ship around; and Meredith worked with Alex on a pediatrics case.
