Back in 1993/94 Kevin McKidd, while at Queen Margaret Drama College in Edinburgh, worked for Edinburgh's infamous Witchery Walking Tours. He started as a 'jumpin ooter' (costumed characters that appear on the tours) but was quickly promoted to leading the trips as Adam Lyal (deceased).
Who exactly is Adam Lyal ...(snip from www.witcherytours.com)
Adam Lyal (1785 - 1811)
A highwayman, Adam Lyal reached the peak of his career by stealing over £126 from a merchant on the road to Stirling. Unfortunately for him he was soon caught, after buying an extremely expensive pair of shoes. He was hanged on the 27th of March 1811AD, in the Grassmarket, Edinburgh.
On Friday 21st August, between 9am & 10am, Kevin's name will be announced from the top of the 4th Plinth in Trafalgar Square, London, along with the 42 others who have played the part of Adam Lyal (deceased) over the years.
