Hi, Kev here! I was so excited to get to do the voice over on the show. Felt like I earned my stripes in a funny way…
Sandra does such good, “I’m just waking up acting!” I think this moment illuminates a lot about Cristina and Owen’s relationship.
Kim had a hard time with the medical in that scene. That stuff is tricky.
All this is fact. Washington state is one of the few states where this is legal. The procedures are strict.
Yay Nicole! Nicole is our script supervisor and she is also an actress. She is the best – a great person.
So Lancaster, CA is Iraq. This location is amazing – tough to shoot in, but so worth it. I had a great time out there. The crew had mixed feelings but I think, on balance, everyone enjoyed the change of scenery.
I loved shooting this scene. It was shot on long lenses so we could just play the scene. This was shot in one of those tents on location.
Cool transition #2.
IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) are the most common forms of casualty in Iraq at present.
Sandra is such a good actor…
Jim is great in that moment.
Owen is operating in a rogue way right now. He is flying by the seat of his pants. He is not fully in control of himself.
The actor playing Dan is fantastic. I think he made my job so much easier!
On a writing level I thought this was nicely done – “The patient in question is a woman…”
The “Hail Mary” moment – I kept getting emotional but the director kept stopping me. “Just say it,” he would say. I think it’s better his way.
Owen realizes he was being selfish here.

He is a great actor!
I found that scene hard to be in two places at one time. The director really helped me navigate this speech.
Owen has stuff to work through still… But he will get there in the end.
Thanks for watching! -Kev
