The hugely popular Hogmany Concert is returning to Aberdeen’s Music Hall this year and will feature a host of local talent.
On the bill are the legendary Lonach pipe band, Shona Donaldson from Tarland (Scots singer of the year 2009) and accordionist John Bone, who is a past Scottish champion.
Well known traditional singers Joe Aitken, Jim Taylor and Geordie Murison, compere Robert Lovie and Paul Anderson from Tarland on fiddle (nominated as composer of the year at this years BBC Alba Trad music awards) will also feature.
There will be an auction to raise money for Save the Children charity, which will have a couple of unique items.
Paul Anderson will be auctioning a newly composed tune which can be named by the successful bidder, and it will be published and recorded for his next album, The Land of the Standing Stones.
Kevin McKidd, the well known Elgin actor who is one of stars of Grey’s Anatomy and the recent Pixar hit Brave, has donated a signed copy of the Speyside Sessions album which was number one in the world music charts in eight different countries.
He has also donated a boxed set of the last series of Grey’s Anatomy which has been signed by the whole cast of the hit US show.
Shona and Paul both performed on the Speyside Sessions and Kevin will also be singing a track on Paul’s new album.
The Hogmanay concert at Aberdeen’s Music Hall it starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £17.50 plus booking fee and are available from the Aberdeen box office.
