Sally Jackson wasn't in the mood for trick or treat. That was because Percy wasn't with her this year to help her enjoy it. It had been 8 months since she had taken her son back to Camp Half Blood for more training. Sally had told Percy back then that he could come and see her whenever he wanted if he could get away. Sally guessed that Percy wasn't able to come home because he never had. She couldn't face New York City without Percy so Sally had moved back to Atlantic City, New Jersey and had become the floor manager for one of the casinos there. Sally was on her way home from work and was feeling very sad.
Before she got all the way home Sally stopped on the Boardwalk and looked out over the ocean. She couldn't help but to think about Poseidon and a time in her life when she felt loved and special. Sally missed Poseidon terribly but knew that it was forbidden for him to return, even for a short visit. Sally couldn't bear to look at the ocean so she made her way home in amidst the children and adults who were trick or treating with tears in her eyes.
When Sally got home she immediately got ready for bed. As she laid down to sleep she heard a familiar voice in her head. She was sure that it was Poseidon. It was Poseidon and he was asking her to come back to the beach. Sally had never known that Poseidon was able to communicate with her telepathically the way he did with Percy, but she decided to take the risk and see what would happen. Sally quickly got dressed, got her flashlight, and made her way back to the beach.

"What are you doing here?" Sally asked Poseidon. "I'm worried for you if Zeus finds out that you're seeing me.
Poseidon reached out and gently touched Sally's cheek. Sally rested her head against his hand.
"I sensed that you were feeling lonely, Sally, so I was willing to take the risk of seeing you," Poseidon said. "I wanted you to know that I'll be there for you too. I'll be in your thoughts and dreams as much as I'm in Percy's.
Sally couldn't speak as Poseidon was talking to her. She moved closer to Poseidon and he held her tightly. They kissed with a great feeling.
"Please stay with me until dawn," Poseidon said.
"I will," Sally said without hesitation or fear.
They walked the beach together then sat on the sand. Sally held tightly to the seashell Poseidon had given her. He held her close. They both fought hard to keep from breaking into tears.
But by the time that dawn was coming close Poseidon noticed that Sally had fallen asleep in his arms. He gently picked her up, walked her home and tucked her in her bed.
"Goodbye Sally" was al he said.
