ELGIN actor Kevin McKidd is asking that people give generously to a Moray drama club to help him celebrate his 40th birthday today (Friday).
As patron of Out of the Darkness Theatre company, based in his hometown of Elgin, the Grey’s Anatomy and Trainspotting star is requesting that people make donations to the group as he turns the big 4-0.
McKidd, who describes Out of the Darkness as an "exceptional drama group", hoped the donations would help it raise money to buy its own permanent premises.
"Out of the Darkness Theatre Company devise and produce their own special form of theatre – one that can speak to all," said the actor.
"The work is of a professional standard and the heart and soul they put into it makes it a truly magical experience. To witness it leaves you with something special and unforgettable. I’m very proud to be its patron."
Out of the Darkness works with learning disabled people and those with complex and profound needs.
Founded in 1992, it was originally a well-supported voluntary organisation, but is now an independent full-time professional theatre company with registered charitable status.
Donations and other birthday activities honouring McKidd are being coordinated by his official website, Kevin McKidd Online. Donations can also be made at http://www.odtheatre.org.uk by clicking the ‘Donate’ tab on the left hand side of the page.
