Red Nose Day Fund Stories: Boosting School Communities in Haiti

Through the Red Nose Day Fund, Save the Children will reach more than 15,000 girls and boys in need in Haiti, working with teachers, parents and community leaders in metropolitan Port-au-Prince to give kids a better education, in and outside the classroom.
In a country where only 1 in 5 children can read by the end of the first grade,[1] Save the Children is training school directors, teachers and parents, and supporting and creating parent teacher associations, student committees and reading clubs.
Save the Children is working with the teachers, parents and Ministry of Education to improve kids’ reading skills, and making schools more of a place where kids want to go and learn.
