“I always knew I wanted to be an actor, but I didn’t expect to get this far,” he admits. “To be honest, I was destined to become a plumber like my father, and as a child I remember thinking, ‘If I get as far as London, I will be lucky.’ I never left Scotland until I was 20 years old. That’s how sheltered I was, so to be here is pretty remarkable.” A little like his character Tommy’s dabbling with drugs in Trainspotting, McKidd never intended to try directing, but having unexpectedly tried life in the director’s chair on Grey’s Anatomy recently, he’s hooked. “Directing was a very interesting learning curve for me and it’s something I’d love to do again,” he recalls. “It was a little overwhelming at the start and I spent a lot of time holding my hair and thinking, ‘I’m going to lose it.’ However, I really enjoyed it.” Read the full article here To television audiences, actor Kevin McKidd is best known for his performance as Dr. Owen Hunt on ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, as well as his work on the short-lived but fan-favorite shows Journeyman, and Rome. (Snip) Spoiler Alert "They're going to shut down their feelings about it for quite some time," McKidd adds, noting that becoming chief is a blessing in disguise for Owen. "He has this very convenient environment where he can become so consumed with work that they can try and brush it all under the carpet. I'm not sure it's going to work. He genuinely tries to put that to bed and go, 'OK, this is the woman I love. This is the person I married.' But whether he can manage that in the long-term is going be the big question mark over Cristina and Owen." Though Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) was the one to persuade Owen to give Cristina his blessing, so to speak, McKidd believes that will come to a head in coming episodes. "Meredith supports her because it's her decision, in the same way that Owen supports her because it is her decision," he says. "I think Meredith is there for her, but what her true feelings are are going to come out later." KEVIN McKidd has just had the busiest summer of his life.

But while most dances don't end in the death of a participant, anyone who tangos with Killer #2 finds that dance will be their last on earth. He's brutal, unrepentant, and a character unlike any McKidd has ever played before. And in our exclusive phone interview, McKidd talked about why he found playing Killer #2 impossible to resist, training for the film, and Guy Moshe's vision for Bunraku. read the Exclusive Kevin McKidd Bunraku Interview Here The Hyper-Real BUNRAKU's Josh Hartnett and Kevin McKidd Speak The world of Bunraku exists in a highly stylized landscape of origami facades and multi-colored lights. The Law of the Gun has been abandoned for the Discipline of the Sword and in the town called Little Westworld, the rules are set by a crime overlord named Nicola aka The Woodcutter (Ron Perlman). Aided by a gang of killers called The Red Suits which are ruthlessly led by Killer #2 (Kevin McKidd), The Woodcutter runs the town with an iron fist. Deep in the darkened streets, rival gangs fight for turf, money, and influence. Into this violent tableau step two men, The Drifter (Josh Hartnett) and Yoshi, the Jin Samurai (singer-turned-actor Gakt). Both seek something of great value. One craves revenge. The other, a Dragon Amulet that represents great power for his family. With the help of The Bartender (Woody Harrelson), these men can only be destined to meet... and to clash. Bunraku is a unique and imaginative film written and directed by Guy Moshe (2006's HOLLY) and available September 1, 2011 on Video On Demand and on DVD/BluRay November 1, 2011 from Arc Entertainment. Twitchfilm had a chance to speak with Josh Hartnett regarding his performance as The Drifter and Kevin McKidd about his role as the dancing psychopath, Killer #2 in Moshe's groundbreaking new film. read the twitchfilm interview here Kevin McKidd Goes Digital in "Bunraku" and "Brave" Kevin McKidd’s been stepping out of Seattle Grace’s OR into some very dreamy digital worlds lately. Michael Ausiello There are a number of ways Cristina’s abortion dilemma could play out on Grey’s Anatomy this fall, but one thing appears fairly certain: If she terminates the pregnancy, her marriage to Owen is kaput. “That’s a very good point,” reasons the baby daddy’s portrayer, Kevin McKidd. “Is it just a bump in the road, or is it a real block in their relationship? That’s addressed in the early part of the season.” The very early part. As series creator Shonda Rhimes recently revealed to TVLine, the question of whether Cristina goes through with the abortion is answered by the end of the two-hour season opener, airing Sept. 22. McKidd acknowledges that “the writers have written Cristina into a bit of a box,” but adds that that’s not necessarily a bad thing. “[T]he really good juicy stuff gets going when they go, ‘OK, we’re going to make this as difficult as we possibly can for this couple. They fought to get together, with the Teddy of it all in Season 6 and then the PTSD, and now it’s like slam, we’re going to give you the hardest problem of all.’ “It just gives us an opportunity to tell a better story and a more important story,” McKidd continues. “And it’s really tough. Network shows aren’t dealing with that topic of conversation about abortion. I think it’s cool that they’re not skirting around it, they’re going head on into it.” source |
