Tonight's Grey's Anatomy: Kevin McKidd on good news and bad news for Cristina and Owen fans
By Jennifer Armstrong
Grey’s Anatomy fans — particularly those who love the relationship between Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) as much as I do — got a little queasy last week with the arrival of Kim Raver’s Dr. Teddy Altman. While, of course, we watch the show for the drama, it’s hard not to feel protective of a couple that’s overcome so much — his post-traumatic stress disorder from serving in combat, her general prickliness. So it’s hard to take kindly to a pretty, talented doctor type who shows up out of nowhere, then becomes Cristina’s mentor only to also confess her festering-since-their-military-days feelings for Owen. If it’s any consolation, McKidd feels our pain: “Sandra and I, when this [storyline] was pitched to us, we became very angst-ridden about it,” he says. “We love working together, and I think that adds to the dynamic on screen.” The triangulation continues to unfold on tonight’s episode — here’s what McKidd had to say about what Cristina-Owen fans can expect from the hour and in the near future

Kevin McKidd Dishes on Owen, Cristina and the Addition of Teddy on 'Grey's Anatomy'
Scottish actor Kevin McKidd, 36, is taking some heat from Grey's Anatomy fans. His character, Dr. Owen Hunt, who is dating Sandra Oh's Cristina Yang, has added a new surgeon to Seattle Grace Hospital: the gorgeous Dr. Teddy Altman, played by Kim Raver. McKidd gives us the dirt on how Teddy will affect Owen and Cristina's relationship, how much Owen knows about Cristina's ex, Dr. Burke (Isaiah Washington), and how fans have influenced his performance. Plus: Have McKidd's children seen his work?

Here's the bad news: Kim Raver's Teddy Altman is definitely a complication for Grey's Anatomy's most beloved twosome of the moment: Kevin McKidd's Owen Hunt and Sandra Oh's Cristina Yang. As Kevin McKidd correctly pointed out when we spoke earlier this week, "For a TV show to work, the characters can't be happy all the time." (Bah humbug!)

Grey's Anatomy executive producer Shonda Rhimes gave fans a wonderful couple to root for in Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd), and then introduced Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) into the mix. Exclusive: 'Rome' & 'Call of Duty' movies on!
November 17, 2009 Ryan Brockington
Kevin McKidd may be giving countryman Gerard Butler some serious box office competition in the near future! In a new interview Kevin told PopWrap that two of his most beloved projects have big screen versions in the works. First up, the oft-rumored about feature film based on HBO's gone-too-soon "Rome!"
"There is a script that is being shopped and it's supposedly very good, I haven't seen it, but I am definitely going to be a part of the movie," Kevin told PopWrap. He then went on to say that his character, soldier/politician Lucius Vorenus, is not dead despite what happened in the show. "He very much alive, so that should be a fun story to tell."
On a more animated note, Kevin -- who voices Captain "Soap" MacTavish in "Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2" -- says that the hugely successful video game franchise is also eyeing a big screen incarnation.
"They were looking for a rough, Scottish actor in Hollywood they probably couldn't get Gerard Butler, so they got the No. 2 Gerard Butler, me. I had no idea it would be so huge, and now there are talks of a feature film," he revealed to PopWrap. Then came the kicker, when asked if he would be bringing Soap to life in the movie, he said, "if the script is good, and Gerard isn't available [laughs], then absolutely."
Um, you're freakin' adorable Kevin, just FYI. As for scoop on his "Grey's Anatomy" love triangle and what the arrival of Kim Raver's character means for Dr. Hunt, check back for that lump o' news on Thursday!
