Grey’s Anatomy Cast and Crew Set to Tackle Tough Mudder Half LA for a Cause
Published on April 12, 2016 by Melissa Freeswick On Sunday, April 17, fearless Grey’s Anatomy cast and crew members will step out of the OR and onto our first-ever Tough Mudder Half course to raise awareness for LA based nonprofit, My Friend’s Place. On a mission to help the homeless youth of Hollywood improve their lives, My Friends Place empowers them to reach their highest potential, inspiring over 1,700 young people ages 12-25 to do better than their best every year. Driving the initiative to Make Mud Matter is is Giacomo Gianniotti, the newest series regular to join the cast, who took it upon himself to create a corporate team and rally costars to join him in raising funds for this awesome cause. We caught up with Dr. DeLuca to find out what drew him to My Friend’s Place, what inspires him to give back, and how the Tough Mudder community can help. 12x18 & 12x19 both air on 14 April 2016 as a special 2 hour event
While I am feeling frustrated with the plodding pace of Grey's Anatomy’s storyline about why Nathan’s presence has been such a thorn in Owen’s side, I did enjoy the additional piece of the puzzle we got this week through Owen’s halting admission about not wanting to lose anyone else. It seemed, perhaps, a sign that he’s finding his voice again one line of dialogue at a time. As a longtime viewer, I also enjoyed the glimpses we saw of the continued friendship between Owen and Meredith. I was cheered by seeing that these two former combatants had maintained their bond, initially forged out of both missing Cristina. (Admittedly, I miss Cristina too and am glad that her name came up once again in conversation between Owen and Meredith this week.) This episode found many characters avoiding each other - some with positive results, i.e. Arizona and April, some not so positive, i.e. Jackson and April. Meredith and Maggie’s attempts to avoid Bailey’s budget meeting ended up earning Meredith a strained ambulance ride with a seething Owen and an annoyed Nathan. But it also earned fans a bit more insight into Owen’s state of mind. Meredith’s attempts at playing referee turned sour as she brought up Amelia having moved back in and Owen countered with his regret regarding his drunken actions and his thwarted date with Amelia. Discussion of Amelia’s addiction caused yet another bout of angry boy-fighting when Nathan admitted to having bought Amelia a drink in one of his earliest episodes. Meredith was able to shut it down and the three surgeons settled in for a long ride together as their ambulance remained stuck in traffic. The unfortunate delay meant the organs they were meant to procure grew distressed and couldn't be salvaged, even with Nathan’s attempt at resuscitation. Of course, this situation only gave Owen more ammunition with which to insult Nathan and more opportunities for Meredith to referee. Once they were no longer ambulance-bound, Meredith tried to calm Owen by saying she understood his reaction to Nathan before encouraging Owen to find a way to let his anger go before it ate him alive. Owen countered with his updated version of the story, in which Megan told her brother about Nathan’s transgressions with other women. When Nathan approached Owen later to try to mend fences, we saw yet more boy-fighting when Owen said Megan had shared with him how Nathan had strayed. In an unusual rush of words, we heard Owen say he wouldn’t let anyone else be taken from him by Nathan’s actions. This vulnerable admission finally showed us that we might soon get more from Owen than his usual modes of dealing with his feelings - silence or bluster. Elsewhere in the hospital: Meredith, Maggie, and Amelia struggled to figure out how to again be roommates; Jo, Stephanie, and Penny bonded over applying for a grant and then fell out over that very same grant application; Richard and Catherine fought over her approach to Jackson and April’s relationship; April treated a pregnant teenage patient along with Arizona; Amelia worked with both Stephanie and Penny to treat a musician with MS; that same patient flirted up a storm with Stephanie; Callie and Penny bonded and yet were thrown into conflict when Penny won the grant; Ben and Bailey bonded; and things got even messier between April and Jackson. EXTENDED PROMO Grey's Anatomy 12.18 It's A Fine, Fine Line 12.19 It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) ** both episodes air 14 April 2016 ** |
