THE ER AND APRIL’S MOM COMES TO SEATTLE ON ABC’S “GREY’S ANATOMY” Guest Starring Geena Davis (“Thelma & Louise”), Kelly McCreary (“Dr. Emily Owens, MD”) and Connie Ray (“The Big C”) “Don’t Let’s Start” – Owen becomes invested in a patient when he realizes she may have served in the military, April’s mother (Connie Ray) pays her daughter a visit and bonds with Jackson, and Derek plans a family dinner. Meanwhile, a patient’s diagnosis causes Bailey to reconsider her own health issues and Dr. Herman drops a bombshell on Arizona, on “Grey’s Anatomy,” THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. “Grey’s Anatomy” stars Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, Patrick Dempsey as Derek Shepherd, Justin Chambers as Alex Karev, Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, James Pickens, Jr. as Richard Webber, Sara Ramirez as Callie Torres, Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Jessica Capshaw as Arizona Robbins, Jesse Williams as Jackson Avery, Sarah Drew as April Kepner, Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd, Camilla Luddington as Jo Wilson, and Jerrika Hinton as Stephanie Edwards. Guest cast TBA. “Don’t Let’s Start” was written by Austin Guzman and directed by Rob Greenlea. “Grey’s Anatomy” is broadcasted in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound. A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to airdate. source In an episode largely focused on the unanticipated connections and disruptions, personal and professional, between Meredith Grey, Richard Webber, and Maggie Pierce, we saw a jumble of scenes which made sense of some pieces of the puzzle that was Ellis Grey - Meredith and Maggie's mother. Ellis' personal struggles, her sacrifices, her disappointments, as well as her successes were chronicled in this episode. And she herself said in the episode-ending montage - we learn as much from our mistakes as we do from our successes. An idea which was eerily reminiscent of her words to Cristina Yang about not trying hard enough to keep her professional and personal life together as well as Owen Hunt's own words from way back in Season 5, 'mistakes are how you learn.'
Many of the characters had just minimal scenes around that central story this week and we only saw Owen briefly as he accosted Jackson Avery about Maggie's resignation, which she'd announced to the board via email. Owen's frustration at potentially losing another cardio doctor was evident as he referenced how he and Cristina Yang had worked to hire Maggie when the previous cardio chief had recently resigned. While Owen's story wasn't much advanced by this scene, it was heartening to be reminded of his connection to Cristina even so. Elsewhere in the hospital: Meredith and Derek Shepherd continued to struggle with the personal and professional choices they've made; Alex Karev returned to Grey Sloan Memorial as a pediatric surgeon; Arizona Robbins tried to run her own Fellowship while getting Alex to run her service for her as a peds Fellow; Amelia Shepherd tried to convince Maggie to stay and tried to assert her authority as Neuro Chief at the same time; Miranda Bailey stepped into her new seat on the board claiming she'd turn the ship around; and Meredith worked with Alex on a pediatrics case. We're celebrating turning 7 today!

Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone Weigh In 9:00 AM PDT 10/16/2014 by Lesley Goldberg Grey's Anatomy's Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) is facing a difficult road ahead without the love of his life. Last week, one of Grey Sloan's top docs revealed that he was afraid that he might fall down a dark path without Cristina (Sandra Oh) around to be his beacon of hope. Instead, he pushed Callie (Sara Ramirez) to come through for a soldier to bring a little bit of hope into his otherwise work-obsessed world. While there have not been any signs that elude to Owen dipping his toe back into the dating scene, many have speculated whether the damaged war vet and new Seattle regular Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) would make for a good pairing. Think about it: Both certainly have their demons and a romance between the two would certainly put Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) in an interesting position considering Cris was, and will forever be her "person." (Sorry, Alex.) "That could be interesting," McKidd told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'd like to explore that for the character. I think [showrunner] Shonda [Rhimes] is interested in that idea. The damage of those two characters could really be interesting to put together. It could create a lot of comedy. The Owen-Derek (Patrick Dempsey) relationship would take on a whole new dynamic and level, which could be really fun to play with — 'Whoa, you're dating my sister now?!' And Meredith and Owen have always had a slightly complicated relationship. I think there could be a lot of possibilities there." Adds new series regular Scorsone of the possibility: "I could see why that speculation would be there because I think they've both been through so much. The fans love them both with a kind of broken tenderness and I could see why that would work. But I know nothing! I have faith that sometimes what you think is obvious is exactly what Shonda will fishtail. You never know. I have faith that whatever she decides is going to mysteriously be exactly perfect for Amelia." For her part, Rhimes told THR in July that she was playing the Owen romance storyline by ear. "We're going to take the time to pace it correctly," she told THR [2]at the time. "I'm going to do it instinctively. … We're going to play with his loneliness and see how that feels. We're going to have him make some attempts and see how that feels. … We're going to give him some opportunities and then dive in when it feels correct. I'm not just going to put him with someone because he needs to be with someone. There's some validation in honoring the fact that that relationship was a huge relationship and quite beautiful. It's the same way we did with Cristina when Burke left. We're not going to throw him with somebody just to have somebody there." What do you think? Would you be interested in seeing Owen explore a romantic relationship with Amelia? Grey's Anatomy airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
