Kevin McKidd Online

Dog Soldiers is one of Kevin's movies that has always been a firm favorite amongst his fans. At one stage there was talk of a sequel which was to included Kevin as Cooper, however Kevin confirmed that the sequel was definitely not going to happen.

Well for all those fans of the Werewolf's in Dog Soldiers you will be happy to hear that they have been resurrected to take part in the Dog Soldiers Web Series.  Unfortunately no Kevin McKidd and no Neil Marshall...

The official press release follows -

Kismet Entertainment Group announces the first official
teaser trailer for the upcoming Dog Soldiers: Legacy web series.

Dog Soldiers: Red was filmed in Northwest Arkansas in the last weekend of August
2011. "The trailer brings back a sense of the unique werewolf style that we have all
come to love from the original Dog Soldiers film" stated Kismet vice president D. Eric
Allen. Allen produced the teaser and is the oldest son of David E. Allen, producer and
financier for the original film.

Based on a modern-day version of "Little Red Riding Hood", multiple members
of Allen's family took part in the Ryan Lightbourn-directed trailer including his
grandmother Pat "Nan" Allen who plays the awaiting grandma and his sister Emmy
Allen who portrays "Red".

"I can't wait for people to see what we have in store," quoted Lightbourn. "Old &
new fans alike will be extremely satisfied."

Kismet Entertainment is also in the early stages of pre-production for the first
sequel to the 2002 cult hit "Dog Soldiers".

"We would like to thank our fans for their continued support and for having faith
that the Dog Soldiers title will continue to expand into the future", said David E.
Allen, president and CEO of Kismet Entertainment Group.

“I was asked to be in the last two ‘Harry Potter’ films and I couldn’t do it because I was busy filming ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ” McKidd said. “There was this mean, alpha-male werewolf character, who’s like the big villain in the final film.”

Our guess is the role McKidd was offered was that of
Death Eater Fenrir Greyback

Patrick Kevin Day – LATimes, explained what it took to transform Dave Legeno into Death Eater Fenrir Greyback

The look of Death Eater Fenrir Greyback in ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ took 10 makeup artists painstakingly applying goat hair to silicone.

Special makeup designer Nick Dudman had to scramble to complete the look of the werewolf Death Eater Fenrir Greyback in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” “They didn’t select [actor Dave Legeno] until quite late, and we didn’t have a lot of time,” Dudman explained. Luckily, this wasn’t some two-bit indie production; this was a big-budget Warner Bros. blockbuster, with the resources to go with it. “We had about 10 people on just that one character,” Dudman said. “We can take the time to pay attention to detail.” For Greyback, Dudman’s team spent seven months stockpiling a supply of multi-piece silicone makeup to be applied to the actor’s head and chest, with each bit of goat hair individually punched into the makeup. “You can’t use wig lace, because it will show,” Dudman said. “It has to be done by hand.” It took about 5 1/2 days to apply the hairs for one set of makeup that would be used for only one day of shooting. Dudman had no way around it. “The makeup removal process would always result in the silicone pieces being destroyed.”

#5 Best Charity Work moments

The Best of 2010 was Kevin's generous heart in helping earthquake victims of Haiti and the immense trust he showed and placed in all of us in allowing us to conduct the charity event.  Kevin caught our attention with his fine acting. His talents there will always entice and enthrall us. His kind heart and generous attitude towards others, however, is what makes me a fan of not just the actor but the man. (duchovlet)

Kevin's generosity! Loved that he arranged an auction to raise money for Children of Haiti.  (coforever)

First, Save the Children auction. It has been a great experience to be able to help and see the incredible response from Kevin's fans supporting the action. It has been a real honor to help with the auction and a proud moment for the forum itself to be trusted by Kevin with the execution of this action. (betinad)

#4 Kevin as the Director

I also love that he is directing. (duchovlet)

I am over the moon for Kevin and his directorial debut for the web series and an actual episode of GA. He is like a real life superman, in his pursuit of his art and personal life. (Phoeberaven)

I absolutely love that Kevin has found his Director's chair... the Webisodes gave us a taste and I can't wait to see more! (Iveocd)

It was also great that Kevin directed the Webisodes; some of them were surprisingly comical. Now I can't wait to see the actual GA episode he directed! He can act, he can sing and he can direct. What can't that man do?  (-FL)

#3 Best Webisode moments

In the last webisode from this season (the documentary) I *LOVE* how Kevin shuts his eyes for just a split second when explaining how Owen had to be a Trauma surgeon after Iraq (not just wanting to be one.) I loved that choice he made as an actor. It informed the scene with so much (without saying actual words) and it was only a millisecond. Brilliant. (duchovlet)

Another one of the Favorite Moments of 2010 just popped up:
the Making Of episode of the webseries!!
Lots of Kevin, even speaking in his  Scottish accent.  (Phoeberaven)

#2 Best of Kevin's 2010  Wardrobe

Now, I know I said it's not all about his good looks, but I do feel that his wardrobe needs a special mention ..
  • love the black shirt/suit combo for public appearances (this has win all over it!)
  • the blue t-shirt/jeans combo when relaxing at home with Cristina (another win!)
  • The plated armour and skirt/boot combo of a god as Poseidon (remember Vorenus anyone!) .. and that casual hoodie/jean combo
  • hot blue medical scrubs

... WOW .. what another great wardrobe year it has been  (iveocd)

#1 Best moments between Kevin and his fans

A shout of gratitude and pure glee that Kevin visited with so many of us in October. I had hopes that he would attend a chat someday but I was never certain. Kevin was incredibly generous to share his time with us. And very patient with the myriad of questions, comments and general squee thrown in his direction during chat. Definitely one of my favorite Kevin moments of 2010.(ruralstar)

October chat... who can't think that was not a great moment!? having Kevin on the chat with us has been too good for words. (betinad)

Kev popping in for a chat (of course!) - but I did nearly die when he said "don't die ... I'm still here". How sweet was he and how embarrassed was I squeeing teenage girl with a crush (Iveocd)

Another great moment was just shared by many of us. Thanks again to Kevin for popping in to chat on December 19th. A wonderful Christmas gift. He made us feel at ease by asking about our plans and not just answering questions in an interview like format. Was great fun and I look forward to the next visit whenever he has time. (ruralstar)

huge to my "fan heart", the kindness he has showed us here at kmkonline by reaching out to communicate with us via Q&As (which I absolutely love his insightfulness) and was floored the first time he joined us in the Chat Room (and amazed the second time)! Of course I admire his talent because that is why I stumbled upon this site, but KMK's genuine kind heart, humble nature and humanity towards others has gained my admiration and respect. (coforever)

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year

thank you for all the support during 2010 and we look forward to 2011

I loved the whole "We Matter" scene in Season 6. It was amazingly well-acted and it was powerful in so many ways.

KMK's role as Poseidon in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

The episode, Suicide is Painless on Grey's Anatomy was actually very humbling. PTSD is an issue that is hotly debated in the media all around the world so for Grey's Anatomy to have an episode that almost centralizes around it and sheds some light onto it was great. Kevin's acting presented the issue from a more sensitive/personal perspective. Also, I think this was Kevin's first ever GA episode voiceover! I think in the commentary on that episode he said "Hi, Kev here! I was so excited to get to do the voice over on the show. Felt like I earned my stripes in a funny way…" and "The ‘Hail Mary’ moment – I kept getting emotional but the director kept stopping me. ‘Just say it,’ he would say. I think it’s better his way."

World Pneumonia Day; Again, I loved Kevin's generosity in lending his voice to a cause like this.

The Cristina & Owen wedding was probably something most CO fans had been waiting just under two seasons for and I guess it was well-worth the wait. I love Kevin and Sandra together! They make such a great team.

Save the Children Haiti Auction; Again, I loved Kevin's generosity in lending his voice to a cause like this.

I really love it when Owen gives a grand speech on Grey's Anatomy. They're amazing; like they're well-written and extremely well-delivered. The writers do a good job with Owen's speeches like his 'Take Care Now' and 'We Matter' just to name a few. His 'I'm not going anywhere without you' one as no different.

thank you to -FL for the lovely artwork

#10 Best Grey's Anatomy Season 7  moment

~ 7.05 "Almost Grown" Proved to be a favorite amongst many as there  Best Owen and Cristina screen-capped moment (leanne,ellla1967)

One of those rare moments of lightness for these 2, here's to hoping we get more!  (cl3me)

I loved the way Owen spotted his wife, eyed her up a little and then snuck over to her .. hoping for a little sexy flirting, but then he quickly realised that she needed a little comforting ... he brought in a little lightheartedness to make her smile .. and a beautiful sweet little reassuring peck on the cheek .. aahhh.. I loved that scene!  (Iveocd)

Grey's 7x01 - cause I was amazed that Shonda was actually going to have Owen and Cristina have a real wedding. Also because it closed the uncertainty of Owen's feelings of S6 and solidified what us CO fans believed all along that Cristina/Owen were true soul-mates. (COforever)

Picture
The  Season 6 finale of GA with a special mention to the Season 7 premiere..(betinad)

Also I loved the full range of expressions that Owen's face went through when Callie/Arizona were getting it on in front of him & Cristina. In 30 seconds, he made the transition from "oh, that's inappropriate behaviour" to "Wow - there are 2 women getting it on right in front of me". He was completely torn between watching (as a hot blooded male) and diverting his eyes (as a true gentleman) ... absolutely hysterical and acting gold!! (Iveocd)

Loved Owen telling Meredith she was fearless - and not in a good way in "Adrift & At Peace" and pointing out that Cristina is not her -- that there is indeed a difference in the two individuals. (Duchovlet)

We have to go back to March 2010, when Season 6 of GA gave us the Owen-centric episode "Suicide is Painless". Owen even got to take over the voice-overs from Meredith, now I would call that a major milestone, wouldn't you? Besides, Kevin's acting in this episode was stellar. He outshines his co-stars, with the exception of Sandra Oh, in almost all of his scenes. (Phoeberaven)

#9 Best Quotes

I have a favorite quote from 2010. It's from the end of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.  Here goes!
"I know I'm not the father you always wanted. But if you need me I'll be there for you, in your thoughts and in your dreams. I'll stand by you, Percy. Always."
(ranniez)

My favorite Grey's moment for 2010 came from this season's Webisode 6. I went back, watched it again and get the exact quote :
"You know before Iraq I wanted to be a trauma surgeon...But after it I had to be. And I still feel that way today. Even more so." Gotta love Owen. (ranniez)

#8 Favorite Grey's Anatomy Season 7 Video Clip  moment

Grey's Anatomy 6x12. "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked", original air-date January 21, 2010. The "We Matter" scene was beautiful. Owen acknowledging openly how important his relationship with Cris is and forcing her to do the same. Wonderful work by Kevin and Sandra. Definitely one of my favorites from a decidedly lopsided s6. (ruralstar)

#7  Favorite moments regarding Kevin's career in 2010:

One Night in Emergency.
I have to say that when I saw the preview and they showed him in scrubs I was intrigued in seeing how different could this character be from Owen. As expected, Kevin performance was brilliant!
(betinad)

Percy Jackson
And who can forget seeing a 40 foot KMK on the movie screen? No one. SO NICE. And Poseidon's strut to the Empire State Building to talk with Zeus. (Duchovlet)

Picture
#6 Best interview moments

I pick the TIFF interview with Ron Perlman.

When Ron was talking about when they met, he was saying something in the lines of "we are husbands and dads trying to get through the day and we are both very blessed" . The way Kevin reacts to that assessment , so genuine .. clear reminder of why we admire him so much. (betinad)

the countdown shall continue tomorrow with more Kevin Moments from 2010
many thanks to Leanne, Betinad, Ruralstar, Duchovlet, Iveocd, Phoeberaven, Ranniez, coforever, ellla1967 for there contributions

Snip from : 1-1 Interview: Sandra Oh for Rabbit Hole

How did you finally land an audition?

SO: I was talking to John [Cameron-Mitchell] and he goes, ‘They’re reading a bunch [of guys] for the Jason character.’ So I remember asking Kevin McKidd, my acting partner on “Grey’s,” to drive to Santa Monica on a Friday, at 5 o’clock to read with me. He’s such a good guy. And I was working with one of our director-writers who knows the play, Tony Phelan and he was helping me with a bunch of directions and stuff.

So Kevin McKidd aka Dr. Owen Hunt aka Major Hottie auditioned with you for the movie?

SO: Kevin drove all the way up to Santa Monica to read with me because we really wanted to do a good job on this audition tape and I needed someone who’s not just a “reader” or some 20 year old girl. I really needed someone who I could work with and he graciously did that. I credit Tony and Kevin for helping me get this job.

Rabbit Hole will open in theaters in limited released on Friday, December 17.
