Book Club : Anna Karenina 02/04/2012
Considered by some to be the greatest novel ever written, Anna Karenina is Tolstoy's classic tale of Love and Adultery set against the backdrop of high society in Moscow and St Petersburg. Kevin McKidd and Helen McCory took the parts of Vronsky and Anna in channel 4's four-part adaptation of Tolstoy's epic love by Allan Cubitt No its not the admiration of the crowd that has intoxicated her, but the admiration of one. And that one? Can it be he? Every time he spoke to Anna the joyous light flashed into her eyes, and the smile of happiness curved her red lips .... But what about him? Kitty looked at him and was filled with terror. What was pictured so clearly to Kitty in the mirror of Anna's face she saw in him. This is an interwoven tale of the lives of many characters, of which the two main protagonists are Anna Karenina and Konstantin Levin. It covers and contains themes, motifs and symbols from the social change in nineteenth-century Russia, family life, adultery ( not so much as a sin but societies negative reaction ), forgiveness and death. The only part that one might struggled with is the intense coverage of Levin’s agricultural interests. Genre :- tragedy Add Comment With confirmation that the Percy Jackson Sequel : The Seas Of Monsters is definitely going to happen its time to read the second installment in the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. Kevin confirmed that the Second Movie rumors were true, but as of this moment he is still waiting to find out how much of his character (Poseidon) will be in this production So that's why I read the book;-) and I'm afraid there's not much physical Poseidon but there are many connections to his character. The Book is a good read, now that we have gotten to know the characters this one revolves more around them embarking on an adventure wrapped in the well known Greek Mythology story of the Golden Fleece. I could possibly see a few Voice over opportunities for Kevin's character and two appearances. (see the snips below) "I couldn't hear them (Sirens), but I could see they were singing. As their mouths moved, their faces morphed into people I knew - my mom, Poseidon, Grover, Tyson, Chiron. Then my dream changed. I was following Tyson to the bottom of the sea, into the court of Poseidon. It was a radiant hall filled with blue light, the floor cobbled with pearls. And there, on a throne of coral, sat my father, dressed like a simple fisherman in khaki shorts and a sun -bleached t-shirt Book is available from amazon click image above for a sneak peek of the first few pages Book Club : Trainspotting 02/17/2011
I for one have seen Trainspotting the movie more times than I can remember, so to celebrate its 15th Anniversary I decided to get a hold of the book and give it ago. First and for most not the easiest read its one thing to hear the Scottish accent but a whole different ball game to read it. However do persists it is a great read and a good compliment to the movie. Of course if you are not keen on profanity in a book avoid this one. Kevin told us in our last chat that he has read the book : yes - i read it when i knew i had audition for it -- rushed out and bought one click on the image to the left for a brief glimpse Tommy : It has to be said that Tommy's a fairly handsome **** wi a tan. It brings oot the best in him. Handsome, easy-going, intelligent, and pretty tidy in a sedge. Tommy should make you jealous, but somehow he doesnae. This is probably because Tommy doesne have the self-confidence tae recongnise n make the maist ay his qualities; .... prefer to watch the movie : available from Amazon region 1and Region 2 screen-caps from the movie by Anna from Mckiddingme (a great new screen-capping site, all Kevin, worth a peek) KMKonline Book Club : Hannibal Rising 11/25/2010
![]() Time for another KMKonline book club selection... Our next book choice is Hannibal Rising by Thomas Harris .. Kevin took the part of Petras Kolnas in the Hannibal Rising (2007) movie adaptation of the book (click image left to read a snippet from the book) Kolnas came into the kitchen carrying his ledger. He opened the firebox of the wood-burning oven, put in some receipts and poked them back into the fire. Behind him, Hannibal said, "Herr Kolnas, surrounded by bowls." Kolnas spun around.... Amazon.com Review Discover the origins of one of the most feared villains of all time in Thomas Harris's Hannibal Rising, a novel that promises to reveal the "evolution of Hannibal Lecter's evil." Thomas Harris first introduced readers to Hannibal Lecter in Red Dragon, a tale wrapped around FBI agent Will Graham (the man who hunted Lecter down) and his ability to "get inside the mind of the killer." Graham consults Dr. Lecter (the man who nearly killed him) on the case, and the legend of the nefarious Dr. Lecter was born. Harris's masterful and mesmerizing follow up, The Silence of the Lambs wowed fans, but it was Jonathan Demme's terrifying, Oscar-winning (Best Actor, Actress, Director, Picture and Adapted Screenplay) film, and Anthony Hopkins's extraordinary (and arguably over the top) performance that made "Hannibal the Cannibal" a household name. Hannibal, the third book in the Lecter saga made Lecter the prey and seemingly wrapped up the tale of the cannibalistic psychiatrist, but never revealed the source of the doctor's...gifts. Fans have been waiting decades to find out how the good doctor became "death's prodigy," making Hannibal Rising one of the most anticipated books of 2006 (and movies of 2007). --Daphne Durham available from Amazon.com ![]() KMKonline Book club our book list so far...... Kevin McKidd took the part of Poseidon in the movie version of this book. Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves. Currently we still have not had any news with regards, if there is going to be a movie version made of the second book in this series "Sea of Monsters" but we will keep you posted . ;-) Amazon The Lightening Thief (movie tie-in edition) Amazon 5 Books in complete series (box Set) Rick Riordan More Kevin and Sandra in London 05/28/2010

But the harmony of their life together is shadowed by the obsessive hatred of Duror, the gamekeeper. Set during the Second World War, Robin Jenkins' greatest novel is an immensely powerful examination of good and evil, and mankind's propensity for both. Removed from the destruction and bloodshed of the war, the brothers' oblivious happiness becomes increasingly fragile as darker forces close in around them.
