Wow! A whole year; time does go by fast when you are having fun! And it's really been a great year; our forum has grown from strength to strength and we are happy to say that we have a nice number of permanent members.  All of you have contributed to the development of the forum and in even the site itself.  I thank our current members --you know who you are ;-) --for their on-going support. It's been great getting to know you all and I look forward to even more fun during the year that follows.  For those of you who are not members YET, please pop around and join us on the boards.  We are an international community of like-minded people that are supportive of Kevin and into celebrating his talent. Plus you will be the first to know all the latest news, to get the first offers on merchandise and join in all the fun. A huge thanks to Kat for all her hard work on the site and Kevin especially because, without him, we would not exist...

We're officially 1 year old and what a year it's been! Kevin McKidd Online went from one mini-site featuring news and articles on Kevin to a full-blown fan site, thanks to our viewers and Kevin's interaction!  When we started out, it was to offer others background information on Kevin—the sort of insightful biography and film articles that took us wading through hundreds of different sources to pull together. We tried to weed out all the critiques and get to the nitty-gritty, the real articles about Kevin, ones with substance and credibility. We did the dirty work so that others in future wouldn't have to. We went from 4 pages of information and a few photos to needing full section menus and a gallery hub to contain it all. We didn't start with a fan forum, but we received so many positive emails that we built it and you came; a chat room soon followed. We branched out from this site to three or four different mediums, taking on Myspace, Facebook, Youtube, and Zoopy videos as well.  Thank you to the volunteers who participate or lend their expertise at all these sites; you're amazing. Without using ads and special gimmicks to increase traffic to the site, KMK Online quickly ranked third on Kevin-related Google searches and is linked on IMDB. Wow. We're proud of that since we aren't after making money or distracting you with a lot of flash—we're simply here to promote Kevin and give his fans another place to call home. Kevin's popularity keeps advancing and we're so excited to help spread the word about how cool he is. And he definitely is. But you already know that; it's what keeps you coming back to visit. He's the kind of guy that inspires you to try acting or to petition big networks to keep him on television or even to ask us for a Kevin-centric tour of Scotland in the future. If there's anything you, the fans, have taught me personally this year, it's that anything is possible….  Thank you for that and for sticking around. We're going to keep getting better, keep taking fan suggestions, keep growing….  If we can do so much in the 1st year, imagine the possibilities in our 2nd.

2:  A film called Faith is still in early planning stages & not set for production until possibly next year, but will star Kevin as "the lead in a tale about a relationship between a father and daughter." (Scotsman.com)

3: We've updated the gallery and multimedia page with the latest Kevin gems, including the newest promotional shots of Kevin's return to "Grey's Anatomy," some on-set photos from filming around L.A., his recent venture at the American Film Institute's Mad Men Golf Classic, and more of his voice-over work for Vice City and Highland Empire.  Gallery photos ARE capable of being saved; you must double click on the photo of interest in order to save to your computer.  We've also moved to a flash slideshow format for the home page.

Finally, we will have a special FrightNight chat on Sunday, November 2nd at GMT 21:00 (roughly 4pm CST U.S.). We recommend registering through the message boards early to circumvent any problems entering the chatroom.

By now you've hopefully seen "Grey's Anatomy" and we're very excited by a huge new group of people visiting the site to learn more about Kevin! Our numbers jumped exponentially off the charts after the premiere of Season 5. If you are new and a "Grey's" fan, Kevin IS indeed set to do 11 episodes of the show (for starters). "So" don't rule out our resident "badass" just yet; he'll be back.  Now for the latest and greatest in site updates.... 

1) We had quite a few people join us in chat from the HBO Rome boards and www.Ray-Stevenson.com --thanks for coming our way and participating! We've also had a LOT of "Grey's Anatomy" fans who are now learning of Kevin and a few emails about sites wishing to affiliate with us. Awesome! We'll be creating an affiliates link of sites in our Fan Forum message boards soon for those interested. Our chat night was a great time & we discussed a wide range of Kevin-related topics. For more details on our chat night discussion, see the Message Boards. We had fun so there's a bit too much to recap here.

2) People have read about the Christmas gift we sent Kevin last year and asked what we’re planning this year. Instead of giving to Kevin this time, we’re giving to a charity he supports. We’re raising money through donations and a new shop link; 100% donated and a few dollars of each item purchased in the online shop will go to an account set aside for Out of the Darkness Theatre Company. In December, we will give every penny raised to the Company in honor of Kevin and on behalf of all the fans here. Monetary gain plays no part on this site (it’s our permanent rule), but we hope you’ll join us in wanting to give to a very worthy cause. In addition, we’ll be sending Kevin a special KMK Online shirt from the store from all the fans. We may also have our fans help create or pick it out via the Fan Forum so it’s a great time to be involved!

3) How to help: Visit the Fans tab. There, you will find a widget that you can embed on almost any personal blog or social networking site—just click the share button to get the code. On that grab-and-go widget is information about Out of the Darkness Theatre Company and a link to our site and theirs, as well as a video of Kevin in action and a direct link to making donations. When you give, the donation bar is automatically raised. Promote Kevin and the gift of giving in one easy step.

4) Under the Fans Section, you will also find the "Shop for Charity" link in our drop down menu. Throughout October, those in the U.S. and Canada will receive free shipping if you spend 30$ or more. Copy the coupon code on our Shop page and then click on the Shop link to see a list of products. International shipping to many countries is also available; check rates and details on the site. Two-to-five dollars (dependent on item cost) of every item sold before December 15th will also go to the fund for Out of the Darkness Theatre Company.

5) Our next chat will be around Halloween and fright films are the theme, especially Dog Soldiers and Hannibal Rising. Day and time still To Be Announced so keep checking back.
